These instructions will show you how to install Microsoft Office Professional 2003 or 2007 on a Windows computer.
NOTE:
If doing the installation off campus or on Wireless, you will need enable the Pomona College VPN connection. To do so, click here.
CAUTION:
If doing the installation off campus, the installation may take a couple hours, depending on your connection speed.
1. Go to the Start menu and click on Run.
2. Type in \\campus.pomona.edu\pomona\ and click OK.
[Make sure you use the backslash \, not the foreslash /. If you get an error message,
\\fargo3.pomona.edu\software\ instead.
3. You might be asked to log in. If so, use CAMPUS\username [i.e., CAMPUS\ITS04747, CAMPUS\ITS02008] for the username and your network password [same as email, sakai, my.pomona.edu, etc.]
4. A Windows Explorer window should appear.
(This may take a few seconds or even minutes if the server is very busy)
For Office 2003
Open the following folders:
software --> PC-Software --> Office2003
Then, double-click on the SETUPPRO icon. This will activate the Microsoft Office installer, which will guide you through the rest of the process.
For Office 2007
Open the following folders:
software --> PC-Software --> Office2007
Then, double-click on the SETUP icon. This will activate the Microsoft Office installer, which will guide you through the rest of the process.
