| Details: | This article gives information on the availability of personal websites for Faculty, Staff, and Students.
The webspace for one's personal website will only support HTML. Personal website addresses are in the form of:
http://pages.pomona.edu/~username
[where username is your username; e.g. ITS04747, ITS02009, etc.]
Content for your personal website is stored in the 'My Webs' folder inside the 'My Documents' folder of your network home folder. To access the 'My Webs' folder, please use the following instructions [for Mac and Windows]. Also, please see the 'Warnings' at the bottom of this article.
Windows Users
[Students, please use a Pomona College lab computer for these instructions]
1. Double click on the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and then double click on your network home folder drive (H:\).
2. Double click on the 'My Documents' folder, and then click on 'My Webs' folder.
3. 'My Webs' folder is were the contents of you website will be placed.
Macintosh Users
1. Click on the 'Go' menu at the top of your display and click on 'Connect to Server'
2. For 'Server Address' , type in: smb://wells.pomona.edu/fac-staff/username.
[where username is your username; e.g. ITS04747, ITS02009, etc.]
Then click 'Connect'
3. At the login in prompt type in the following:
Workgroup or Domain = Campus
Name = your username
Password = your email password
4. A finder window should open, listing the contents of your network home folder. Open the folder titled 'My Documents'. Then Click on the folder titled 'My Webs'. This is where you put the contents of your website.
WARNINGS:
1. Within the 'My Webs' folder should be a HTML file named 'index.html'. This is the home page file of your personal website. DO NOT rename this file as this is what is needed for your website to show up when http://pages.pomona.edu/~username is typed into the address bar of any Internet Browser.
2. Anything you put in the 'My Webs' folder will be available to anyone in the world viewing your website. So, use caution when placing files in this folder.
